after latte

the first
little smile.

the coffee was finished. the experiment had just started.

the actual after latte prototype. real coffee texture, rough edges and all.

it started with “what if?”

what if the grounds left after a good cup could become a small canvas?

the first experiment was the Gadgeteer logo, surrounded by a little circle of gadgets. then came after latte: two lowercase words following the shape of a smile. both were printed on spent espresso pucks.

seeing that little white mark on the brown coffee surface made the idea feel real. something new from something old.

a moment worth keeping

latte art is lovely, and fleeting. you take a photo, take a sip, and the design disappears. after latte is exploring a keepsake inspired by that moment: a design printed onto the coffee grounds left behind.

these first prints are the beginning. preparation, finishes and long-term durability still need exploring. for now, they’re display prototypes and a reason to keep experimenting.
